Two-Tone-Pinks first gig was in Aug 79 with The 2 Tone band The Selecter
at Tony Wilson's Factory (Russell Club) in Manchester. This is what Mick
Middles said about the TTP's in Sounds. "The
self penned songs were very impressive and in fact highly original"
The write up of the gig on the left includes a picture of The
Selecter but not of the Two-Tone-Pinks, Typical over half of
the write up is about TTP's but they only included a picture of The Selecter!
Well I suppose they were a much bigger band and signed to the 2 Tone
record label and had a single in the charts, says it all really. |

Two-Tone-Pinks
Live at Barnsley. A ticket from the Londoner gig in Barnsley Jan
1980. It was Raffy's first gig as drummer and the gig was recorded by
the sound engineers. TTP's Live at Barnsley ends with stage invasion as
fans took to the mike and can be clearly heard on the recording shouting
"Best
Band that's been to Barnsley"

"The
Truth About Northern Mods" a feature written by Gary Bushell
in Sounds Oct 79 is a great picture of The Killermeters from
Huddersfield, Two-Tone-Pinks supported The Killermeters at Pips
disco in Manchester on 29th Oct 1979.
If you have any old photos of Two-Tone Pinks from this gig then
please get in touch or email
an electronic copy if you have the facilities as the bands memories of
this gig are pretty hazy after 25 years. |

Two-Tone-Pinks
& Salford Jets at Pinkies Place. Another press write up dominated
by TTP's with no photo of the TTP's included in the finished article.
"The set consisted mainly of their own songs
was lively varied and above all fun and this band at the moment worth
going to see, and given time they could end up as a damn good band". |

To
the left are some handmade TTP stickers made from envelope address labels, the band
hand wrote thousands of these and stuck them everywhere around
Manchester, Mick Middles wrote in Sounds
"Its all over Manchester, on every lamppost on every hip toilet
wall. A message Two Tone Pinks Manchester's only mod band".
At least the band got a write up the strength of these stickers
but as you can see it only said Two-Tone-Pinks and didn't include
Manchester's only mod band. It just goes show how the press can
misquote you even when the band didn't actually speak to them.
